tighten up the big idea...maybe (the components of culture contribute to change and stability over time) Do we need or want to spell out the list. ..?
Move some details from the big idea to the EU to be more specific.
What do you mean by grade span?

We included the possible Grade Soan EU because we like it for use further down: like for grade 5-8 or 9-12.

Human Condition according to wikipedia "The human condition encompasses the unique and believed to be inescapable features of being human in a social, cultural, and personal context. It can be described as the irreducible part of humanity that is inherent and not connected to factors such as gender, race or class."

-Is this the term we want to use here?

"◦How have and did science and technology have costs and benefits for
society?"

How about "How do people decide whether the benefits of new scientific and technological innovations outweigh the costs?"

"◦How and why do people define their values and beliefs?"

How about "Why is culture sometimes a unifying force and sometimes a source of conflict?"

"Students will understand that global society is diverse, made up of various cultures which bring to interrelationships varied perspectives, contributions, and at times, challenges."

This is confusing to me.
